Kells Barnett has been surrounded and influenced by fashion his whole life, designing & sketching his own clothing since the age of 17, Kells knew his calling was in fashion design and/or the business of fashion. Growing up in the business and getting a hands on learning experience under the mentorship and guidance of Guy Wood, Kells gained the knowledge of the fashion industry at an early age. So it was only becoming that at the young age of 25 he would become an integral force in business and marketing to eventually claim the title of Director of Marketing at the custom clothier 5001 FLAVORS, and its bespoke retail expression, Harlem Haberdashery.
Not only is Kells an influencer of fashion but also champion of the community. “I believe pride in community is at the core the true meaning of success” says Kells, an active figure in the local Harlem community and a vocal-piece for helping others overcome whatever odds they may face to reach success, Kells is a true champion of helping others. In 2013 Complex Magazine featured him in the Harlem Rising G-Shock watch feature. Kells Launched #TakeCareOfHarlem [2013]– a social media hashtag call-to-action campaign created to promote community endeavors and to cater to specific issues apparent to the community needs, that has since expanded to all five boroughs of New York City & New Jersey [#TakeCareOfEnglewood, #TakeCareOfNewark]
